Did you know - Food

That you can freeze Ginger? Buy a VERY fresh piece. When you get home, break it up and stick it in the freezer. When ready to use, take a knife (carefully) and peel the ginger. Then you can use a zester to grate it into any sauce and enhance your flavors.

Grated cheeses like Parmesan, crumble cheeses like Feta and Queso can also be frozen. Standard block and cut deli cheeses, not so much. You can also put Mozzarella in the freezer, it makes it easier to grate.

How to spruce up plain foods:

Rice - Use and flavored broth instead of water to boil your rice. Add the broth gradually over a medium low heat stirring every few minutes. I use my own flavors like turmeric, smoked paprika and ginger. Go Italian with oregano, thyme, rosemary…or spice it up with cumin or coriander. Recipes in the internet are amazing. I use this to look stuff up: amazing brown rice recipe or authentic Spanish rice recipe.

Mac and Cheese - My husband loves mac and cheese but I find it sooooooo boring so I add jalapeno, smoked paprika, any cheese I have in the freezer, miso, grated garlic. Anything to add some extra flavor. Yes, this works with boxed mac and cheese too. Also a hubby favorite (ugh).

Frozen Fruits

Pineapple, mango, papaya, honeydew and cantaloupe - Freeze them in chunks you can zest and then use the zest as a topper:

Sir fry’s - Zest in some pineapple

Salsas - Don’t like mango chunks, zest in soma mango for flavor

Ice Cream - Add some fruit zest to any ice cream for an extra flavor boost.
